Thank You Letters I Don't Like To Get!
Here's an email that I'll occasionally get from someone, though, that I don't enjoy receiving. It usually goes something like this: Dear Mike, Thank you SO MUCH for all of the information you provide on your website. Thanks also for signing us up for your free email notification program, and replying to our emails every time we had a question. Very much appreciated! Since you've been such a big help, I wanted you to be the first to know that we've bought a home! We drove past some of the homes that you sent us in the email notification program, and we called the Realtor who had the home listed. Long story short, the home was perfect and we bought it. Thanks again for all of your help! ...or something very similar. Now, I'm a pretty nice guy, and I'm happy that this person has found the perfect home for them. But the thing they did wrong was they didn't call ME to write the offer for them. They didn't remember all the information and help that I provided, and didn't bother to call me to write the offer so that I'd get paid. (Remember, I'm not on salary. I'm on commission only.) It's a philosophy that I live by, too. When my wife and I go to a furniture store, for example, if we don't buy that day, we always ask for the salesperson's card. We want to make sure that when we come back a few days later to actually buy, that we go through that person, because they won't get paid if we don't. As a Realtor, I can help you buy any home for sale. That's right, any home. It is very common for one agent to represent the buyer, and another agent to represent the seller. And when I say I can help you buy any home, I mean it. I frequently help people buy "for-sale-by-owner" homes and Next Generation (flat fee broker) homes. Of course, there will always be those that will take advantage. But I prefer to believe that most of you out there will remember to contact me when you find the perfect home, so that I can show it to you and represent you. And usually, that's what happens. Thanks for your business! To search ALL listed homes for sale in the Des Moines area, go to our Des Moines Iowa Real Estate search page, or our Des Moines MLS search page.
