I will ask you a few simple questions like date of birth, address, what you do for a living, how much you make, etc. Then, with your permission, I will immediately give that information to my loan officer. Within ONE business day, we will have an answer for you. If for some reason you cannot buy right now, then we will give you our best advice on what you can do to raise your credit score in a short period of time, so that you can buy soon. (We are here to help!)
Next, let's meet at my office. Please think of this as a counseling meeting. This is NOT a "let's sell them a house" meeting. It's a meeting to explain the process in more detail, answer your questions, and most importantly, help you decide which home loan is best for you. The meeting will take about an hour, depending on how many questions you may have.
If you decide that buying a home is what's best for you, then I will pull up a list of homes for you, and put you on my "Email Notification" program. This program not only emails you all listed homes for sale matching your search criteria, but whenever any real estate agent lists a house for sale matching that criteria, it sends you an email alert. It's a very neat program and you will enjoy it!
You tell ME which homes you want to see in person. My philosophy is to let you know about EVERY home on the market that matches what you are looking for. Your job then is to look through them (this is the fun part!) and then contact me and let me know which ones to show you in person.
We will keep looking at homes together, until one day... you will be standing in a home with me, and you will know, "This is it. This is the home for me." Again, it will NOT be me "talking you into" buying a particular home. My job is not to "sell" you. My job is to counsel you and help you.
It might take a week to find your home, or it might take a year. Either way is fine with me. If you're in a hurry, you'll find that we will hurry right with you. If you want to take it slow, you'll find that we'll never push you into buying. You will buy a home when you are READY.
Now -- when you are standing in that perfect home that you want to buy, you'll probably say something to me like, "What do we do now?" What we do is go back to the office, and write an offer on the home, together. Please do not let this part worry you. I am an expert negotiator, and I am working for YOU, not the seller of the home. As I mention in other parts of this website, there are ways to make sure that you do not overpay for a home, or get a home with major problems. We will walk you through all of that.
After that, I will guide you through the rest of the process -- the paperwork, the "behind the scenes" work. I will make sure you make it all the way to the closing table.
If you get nothing else from this website, please understand this: I care. I really care about my clients, and I am here to help you. Maybe that sounds like a "line" or sounds hokey, but I am absolutely serious about it. I'm here to make sure that nothing bad happens to you as you buy your first home.
If you forget everything you've read here, remember this: I will "walk you through" the entire process. It's what I do.
